Path of the Library

The library is one of the important organs of the academic body and it plays a crucial role in the development of collegiate education. With this vision in view the rural college library was established in 1964. The Rural College is on the premier institutions of Rural Education Society which has made phenomenal strides in the field of education of the rural masses, backward classes and SC/ST. Recognized as one of the quality colleges is now catering to the basic educational needs of Kanakapura taluk youths. The college was admitted to grant in aid in 1956.

Poojya sri. S Kariyappa, the founder president of RES and the Principal, started the college with a view to import science education to the students of rural areas. Later in 1965 arts courses and in 1971 commerce courses were started. As an applied commerce course, BBM was begun in 2001.

The college library now comprises of 71,584 books pertaining of degree courses. The library is in a big hall, a portion of which is equipped as reading room. Separate reference section is provided to teachers and students. Reference sources like encyclopedia, dictionaries on all subjects and books of general knowledge include INFLIBNET, N-LIST, Internet, Xerox and CCTV facility are available in the college library.

The college wishes to provide modern library amenities to the students such as computerization of library activities and provision of internet services to the students.
